Behaviors and Help

Tips for classroom management:
1. Create a caring "community" of learners -- spend time getting to know your students and letting them get to know you as a person
2. Have students come up with rules for working " individually, in pairs, or in groups." Ask them to t-chart what a respectful and responsible person looks like in each situation. Write it out as a class and agree to it…and post-it for reference. Be consistent with enforcing those "rules."
3. Practice your procedures
4. It is easier to back off and become more "relaxed," it is difficult to pull in the reigns
5. Follow Through
6. Develop a relationship with their parents/guardians (and call home for assistance or to praise)
